Editorial policy

Policy status: Effective 6 September 2026. This policy applies to editorial guides, comparisons and future service reviews published by DatingChoice.

How topics are selected

We choose topics that can help readers understand online dating formats, compare service features, recognise commercial terms or reduce avoidable privacy and safety risks. Search demand or commercial interest may help identify a topic, but neither is sufficient reason to publish thin, repetitive or misleading material.

How services are researched

Service-specific work should begin with current first-party information such as the provider’s website, terms, privacy policy, pricing pages, help centre and app-store listing. Publicly observable product journeys may also be reviewed. Any material limitation—for example, an unavailable feature, unclear regional availability or lack of hands-on account access—should be stated rather than guessed around.

We do not say we personally tested a service unless that happened and the scope of the test can be explained. Provider claims are attributed as provider claims; they are not automatically treated as independently verified facts.

What we evaluate

Depending on the service, we consider its target audience, intended relationship type, registration, geographic availability, profile tools, discovery and matching, communication, privacy controls, reporting and blocking, moderation information, verification, pricing, renewal terms, cancellation, deletion, mobile and desktop experience, ease of use and observable accessibility.

Not every criterion carries the same importance for every reader. We explain trade-offs and suitability instead of forcing all services into a universal score.

Fact and editorial opinion

Factual statements describe information that can be checked, such as a documented feature or stated term. Editorial opinion interprets how useful, clear or suitable something may be in context. We aim to signal that distinction through attribution, supporting links and language such as “we consider” or “may suit”.

Commercial relationships

Some links may be affiliate links, meaning DatingChoice could receive compensation after a qualifying action. Compensation does not automatically determine whether a service is included, excluded, praised or criticised. Not every service mentioned has a commercial relationship with DatingChoice. Relevant commercial links or placements should be disclosed near the decision point as well as in the site-wide affiliate disclosure.

Updates and time-sensitive information

Dating products change. We show an update date on substantive guides and future reviews, and we revisit material information when we become aware of a meaningful change. Pricing, offers, features, geographic availability and policies remain controlled by the provider; readers should verify current terms directly before registering or paying.

Corrections

Material factual errors should be corrected promptly after verification. Minor spelling or clarity edits may be made without a note. When a correction changes the meaning of a claim, we may add a dated clarification. Anyone can submit a correction through our corrections process.

Bylines and expertise

“DatingChoice Editorial” is a collective site byline. It is used because no individual expert biography or credential is being claimed. We do not invent authors, job titles, personal testing histories or professional qualifications.
